John James Audubon's "Birds of America" is a remarkable collection of 435 life-size watercolours of North American birds, printed between 1827 and 1838. The illustrations were reproduced from hand-engraved plates and are considered to be the epitome of wildlife illustration. The Havell edition of the book is particularly well-known as it houses the complete set of illustrations. Today, almost 200 years later, the Audubon prints are being revived, bringing the natural world to life once again.
