Le Chat Noir (French for “The Black Cat”) was a 19th-century cabaret in Paris’s bohemian Montmartre district, founded in 1881 by Rodolphe Salis. Famous for its music, poetry, and shadow plays, it became a cultural hub for artists and writers. Its iconic black cat posters and lively atmosphere made it a symbol of Parisian bohemian life and creativity.
